August 19th is International Orangutan Day.
Help us take action to protect the habitat of this amazing species.

Why do Orangutans need my help?

The relentless destruction of Sumatra’s rainforests has pushed the Sumatran Orangutan to the edge of extinction. With only around 14,600 remaining in the wild, the species is classified as critically endangered.

What most people don't know is that the fashion industry is destroying their rainforest habitat as we speak. Over 150 million trees are logged every year to create viscose and rayon fabrics. It’s a hidden crisis that we have to act on now.

It’s not only Orangutans who need these rainforests to survive – we do too. A huge amount of carbon is stored within Sumatra’s forests and peat swamps and they are one of our planet’s best defenses against climate change.

How Do I Get Involved?

We’ve partnered with the Sumatran Orangutan Society to re-plant the rainforest habitat of Orangutans. From August 19th - 24th, get 15% off your purchase, with an additional 15% donated to S.O.S in your name.

Where do these donations go?

The donations go directly to our friends at the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) and the Orangutan Information Centre. These two grassroots organizations work together to buy back land that used to be rainforest, and re-plant it with native species.

Every order this week will lead to 3 trees planted by our partners* - but the impact doesn’t stop here. This money includes 2 years of training locals to look after the trees, weed them, and make organic compost to feed them. It also includes regular monitoring of the reforestation site for the return of wildlife, measuring rainfall and temperature, and building cabins for workers to live in while they protect the reforestation site.

To put it simply - our partners’ focus is not just on putting trees in the ground but making sure they stay there and thrive.
